We all have choice. You get to choose your pleasure or pain. Here are some examples:
- Choose to find temporary pleasure in eating yummy, but unhealthy food, or choose the long-term pleasure of enjoying a healthy or strong body.
- Choose to spend your financial resources on temporary pleasures, or keep your resources and put them to work for you as long-term investments.
- Choose quick, shallow, burn-through relationships, or choose to stay the course and invest in long-term relationships that will pay emotional dividends in the future.
- Choose lazy activities that are enjoyable in the moment, or choose mundane, repetitive, but supportive activities that will help you build our grow.
You can choose the short-term shoot-sighted pleasures or the long-term and far-sighted pleasures. There may be times when short-term pleasures make sense. However, the truth is that almost all the time the more excellent choice is the long-term strategy. Mathematically it makes more sense. So much so that it is the only logical and intelligent choice.
Choose your pain and choose your pleasure.
This long-term approach will lead to greater happiness and fulfillment.
