Using food for the wrong reasons may be why you’re experiencing health problems. 

Foods should only be mainly used for one purpose: nourishing your body.  Eating food for that purpose is supportive of the typical goals that most people have.

Here are some destructive ways many people use food that lead to health problems:

  1. Entertainment 
  2. Relaxing 
  3. Escaping stress or boredom 
  4. Stress management 
  5. Variety – something different to do
  6. Social connection 
  7. Pleasure

You don’t need food to meet these needs.

Here are some alternative ways to fill those needs in no particular order:

  1. Conversation 
  2. Assertiveness 
  3. Self-denial
  4. Meditation
  5. Prayer
  6. Pondering
  7. Breathing techniques 
  8. Music
  9. Physical exercise 
  10. Play
  11. Books
  12. Rest
  13. Sleep
  14. Nature
  15. Aromas
  16. Warmth
  17. Faith
  18. Application of proven principles
